Kabya, Akash move to quarterfinals

Kabya Gayen and Akash Hossain of Bangladesh moved to quarterfinals of the 2nd ITF Asia Under-14 Development Championships held in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo on Monday, reports BSS.

In the boys' singles matches, Kabya Gayen beat his Mongolian rival Bemegonai by 6-0, 6-0 sets while Akash defeated his Sri Lankan rival Silvapalan 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

In the girls' singles matches, Jannat Hawlader beat her Nepalise rival Sherchan by 6-1, 6-3 sets to move to the quarterfinal, but Humayara Haider Zara lost to her Mongolian rival Adama by 4-6, 4-6 in the another singles match.

Under-14 boys/girls players from hosts Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore and Timor Leste are participating in the competition being held under the management of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association.
