Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria will continue to play county cricket for Essex in 2008 after signing a new one-year contract, reports BBC.
He is currently in his third season with the club and has taken 62 wickets in all competitions so far this season.
"I am an Essex man now and enjoy being over here," the 26-year-old commented.
"I'm learning day by day and getting better all the time. In years to come, I hope to give better performances than I am giving now."
The agreement still has to be approved by the Pakistan Cricket Board, but they do not currently have any international cricket scheduled between the Asia Cup in April 2008 and the ICC Champions Trophy in September.
"We are obviously very pleased that Danish has decided to play for Essex again in 2008," said chief executive David East.
"Danish is a world-class player who is doing a fabulous job and is clearly enjoying his cricket - which is evident from his results and the smile on his face."
