An unbeaten double ton by skipper Alok Kapali and a century by Rajin Saleh enabled Sylhet Division to score 507/8 (dec) against Chittagong Division in the first innings on the second day of a sixth round match of the four-day Walton 16th National Cricket League Tuesday, reports UNB.
In the day's play at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Sylhet Division resumed the first innings with overnight 214 for 3 in 90 overs and eventually declared the innings at 507 for 8 in 159 overs boosted by the two partnerships in the 4th and 5th wicket stands.
The overnight 4th wicket stand between Alok Kapali and Rajin Saleh contributed 191 runs in 68.3 overs.
After Rajin Saleh's departure, Alok Kaplali built another successful partnership with number six Anwar Akbar to contribute 102 runs in 21.4 overs in the 5th wicket stand.
Kapali's unbeaten double century of 211 runs came off 346 balls with 18 fours and three sixes while Rajin Saleh's century of 111 runs came off 265 balls with 10 fours and two sixes.
Anwar Akbar scored 43 runs while Nazmul Milon (30) was the day's other double digit scorer for Sylhet Division.
Younus captured three wickets for 152 runs while Moniruzzaman and Iftekhar Sajjad Rony took two wickets each for 80 and 136 runs respectively in the first innings.
In reply, opening their first innings, Chittagong Division scored 45 for 1 at stumps, in 19 overs, to trail by 462 runs on the second day. Abdullah Al Mamun (25) and skipper Nafees Iqbal (16) were batting when the bails were drawn for the second day.
Ahmed Sadiqur took the day's only wicket of opener Yasir Ali for 14 runs.
In the day's other fixtures, league leader Rangpur Division trailed by 104 runs against defending champion Dhaka Division in the first innings at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur; Dhaka Metro trailed by 230 runs against Khulna Division, also in the first innings, at BKSP Ground-3; and Barisal Division led by 47 runs against Rajshahi Division after the first innings at BKSP Ground-2 in Savar.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Division, which resumed the first innings with overnight 294 for 6 in 90 overs, were all out for 335 runs in 103.2 overs. Adding another 15 runs on the second day, overnight centurion Rakibul Hasan scored 130 runs off 286 balls with 13 fours and two sixes while skipper Sharif (16) and Sahagir Hossain (not out 15) were the other double digit contributors for Dhaka Division.
Shuvashish Roy claimed four wickets for 61 runs in the first innings while Shurawardy Shuvo and Sajedul Islam took two wickets each for 64 and 83 runs respectively. Tanvir Haider took one wicket for 11 runs.
Rangpur Division opened the first innings and scored 231 runs for 5 wickets at stumps in 72 overs.
Dhiman Gosh and Ariful Haque were batting on 67 and 51 runs respectively when the bails were drawn for the second day. Tarik Ahmed (49) and Liton Kumar (28) and Mahmudul Hasan (14) were the other double digit scorers for Rangpur Division on the second day.
Shahadat Hossain grabbed two wickets for 53 runs while Sharif, Dewan Sabbir and Mosharraf Hossain took one wicket each for 34, 44 and 54 runs respectively.
On the other hand, Khulna Division resumed the 1st innings with overnight 299 for 5 in 90 overs and scored 416 runs for all in 114.2 overs.
Overnight Ziaur Rahman scored run-a-ball 79 with nine fours and four sixes while Al-Amin Hossain (37) and Nurul Hasan (14) were the other double digit scorers for Khulna on the second day.
Sharif Ullah grabbed three wickets for 116 runs while Abu Haider and Elias Sunny took two wickets each for 55 and 150 runs respectively.
