Kayes ton allows BD A to escape whitewash

Opener Imrul Kayes scored a century allowing Bangladesh-A to escape whitewash with a draw against Sagicor High Performance Centre (SHPC) of West Indies in their 2nd and last four-day match at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados Thursday, reports UNB.

SHPC took the series 1-0 as they outclassed visiting Bangladesh in the first four-dayer by 351 runs.

On the final day of the 2nd four-day match, Bangladesh resumed the second innings (219 in 1st innings) with overnight 32/3 in 10 overs and scored 242 for 9 in 102 overs.

Night watch batsman Imrul Kayes made a century scoring 112 runs off 247 balls with 15 fours and two sixes.

Imrul with the support from Shuvagata Hom contributed 89 runs in 48 overs in the sixth wicket before Imrul was dismissed by Miguel Cummins, leaving team total at 200/6 in 85.5 overs. Number seven Shuvagata Hom scored 39 runs off 153 balls with five fours.

Another night watch batsman Mominul Haque (19), Nurul Hasan (not out 13) and Taijul Islam (10) were the other notable scorers for Bangladesh.

Sheldon Cottrell captured four wickets 51 runs, Miguel Cummins grabbed two wickets for 49 runs and Carlos Brathwaite took one wicket in the second innings.
