Khulna keep all-win run, Rajshahi beat Ctg by 6 runs in one-dayers

A brilliant century by opener Imrul Kayes helped Khulna Division maintain their all-win run in the one-day match of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League beating Sylhet Division by a comfortable 56 runs at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah Tuesday, reports UNB.
With the day's third consecutive victory, Khulna Division, led by former national skipper Habibul Bashar, dominated the league table securing full six points from straight three matches while former national vice-captain Rajin Saleh-led Sylhet Division was yet to open the account although played three matches.
Sent in to bat first, Khulna Division, riding on a polished 121 by Imrul Kayes, piled a fighting total of 259 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in stipulated 50 overs.
After the departure of opener Nazmus Sadat (16) and one down captain Habibul Bashar (0) - for 38 runs in 7.5 overs -- Imrul Kayes pairing with two down Tushar Imran contributed a huge score of 148 in the third wicket stand.
Opening batsman Imrul Kayes, who came in the limelight scoring his maiden first class century (127) against the same team at the same venue in the last four-day match, furnished his day's 129-ball-121-run innings with 11 boundaries and three over boundaries to prove his worth. With the day's feat, Imrul Kayes was adjudged man of the match for the second successive match.
Chasing 260 runs to win, Sylhet Division lost eight wickets for just 116 runs in 35.2 overs, but national pacer-cum-tail-ender batsman Tapash Baishya came to rescue his team from another awkward situation with 68 runs, enabling Sylhet Division to score 203 for 9 in allocated 50 overs.
Number ten batsman Tapash Baishya's 51-ball quick 68 runs featured with three fours and six sixes while national wicket-keeper-cum middle-order batsman Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 55 runs in 78 balls with seven hits to the fence.
National pacer Syed Rasel was the most successful among the Khulna bowlers grabbing four wickets for 33 runs in his eight-over spell with two maidens while spinner Jamaluddin Babu took two wickets for 57 runs in 9 overs.

In the day's another match at the Chittagong Divisional Stadium, visiting Rajshahi Division beat hosts Chittagong Division by just six runs to share top slot with Khulna Division.
After the day's well-merited victory, Rajshahi Division maintained their top slot intact like the four-day league, securing full six points from straight three matches while Chittagong remained at two points, playing three matches.
Winning the toss, Rajshahi Division opened the innings first to pile up 290 runs for 5 in quota 50 overs with opener Jahirul Islam scoring match highest 89 runs off 106 delivery featuring seven fours and two sixes.
National opener Junaed Siddiqui played 91-ball-68 run innings with the help of four fours and one six while all-rounder Mushfiqur Rahman quickfired 48 runs off just 30 deliveries, hitting three fours and two sixes.
Rezaul Karim captured three wickets for 40 runs while captain Ehsanul Haque Sezan and Kamrul Islam took one wicket each conceding 32 and 35 runs respectively. In reply, Chittagong Division folded their innings at 284 runs for the loss of eight wickets in fixed 50 overs with wicket keeper Dhiman Ghosh making 66 runs off 84 balls, including four fours.
One down national batsman Aftab Ahmed Chowdhury played a hurricane innings of 65 runs playing just 49 balls with nine hits across the rope and one over the rope while Faisal Hossain Dickens hit 51 runs in 67 balls, featuring three fours and two sixes. Pacer Mohammad Shahzada, Delwar Hossain and Mushfiqur Rahman grabbed two wickets each giving away 66, 36 and 41 runs respectively.
Later, Mushfiqur Rahman was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance.
