Kings win inaugural BD 2.0 Challenge Cup

It was a magnificent display by Bashundhara Kings as they came from behind to beat Mohammedan Sporting Club by 3-1 goals to win the inaugural edition of Bashundhara Group Bangladesh 2.0 Challenge Cup held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital on Friday, reports BSS.
In the proceeding, defender Topu Barman, forward Faysal Ahmed Fahim and Brazilian midfielder Miguel Ferriira scored one goal each for Kings while Malian forward Souleymane Diyabate netted a lone goal for Mohammedan, who led the first half by 1-0 goal.
Malian forward Souleymane Diyabate gave Mohammedan a deserving lead early in the 7th minute with a brilliant header from inside the danger zone after taking a cross from Nigerian forward Emmanuel Sunday from the left flank.
After the breather, Kings were desperately looking to stage a fight back in the match and their best moment came in the 73rd minute. Unmarked Tapu Burman, who stood alone before the open net, flicked the ball to the net utilising a corner kick taken by Brazilian midfielder Miguel Ferriira.
Kings took the lead in the 80th minute when Fousal Ahmed Fahim sent the ball home with side volley from the close range after taking a cross from Miguel.
Miguel sealed the victory for Kings scoring the third goal for Kings in the 7th minute of the injury time.
Mohammedan dominated the first half creating number of scoring opportunities.
They could have been different if they would not waste several scoring chances. In the second half, they failed to keep the tempo and Kings made the best use of this opportunity.
Credit must go to Miguel, who was the comeback hero for Kings in this match.
Topu Barman of Kings was named the man of the match for his impressive performance in the match.
With the win, Bashundhara Kings made another history in the new domestic football tournament Bangladesh 2.0 Challenge Cup and started the new domestic season with a new title.
Prior start of the match, one minute silence was observed in memory of those who lost their lives in the anti-discrimination student-people movement.
Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain handed over the trophy and cheque of Taka 20 lakhs to the champions after the match. Top officials of Bangladesh Football Federation were also present there.
