Minister of Telecommunications, Foreign Employment and Sports Harin Fernando has told the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board to renegotiate the contract of Chandika Hathurusingha or cancel it, reports https://colombogazette.com/2019.
Fernando had earlier directed the Sri Lanka Cricket board to replace the coaching staff.
Sri Lanka Cricket's Executive Committee had on Friday made an appeal to the Minister to give them time till the end of the New Zealand series to carry out his directive.
However, Fernando today said that he had directed the Sri Lanka Cricket board to try to renegotiate the contract of Chandika Hathurusingha.
The Minister said that Hathurusingha is receiving a high salary and it needs to be renegotiated as Sri Lanka had not performed well at the recent cricket World Cup.
He said that Hathurusingha cannot demand a high salary and if he refuses to renegotiate the contract then he can take legal action if he wants.
