The latest stage of the 2015 Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, one of the sports largest and most exciting amateur tournaments, was held at Kurmitola Golf Club in the city on Saturday, said a press release.
The 56th of 70 qualifiers for the global event featured 71 players, all personally-invited guests of Turkish Airlines.
Major General Nazim Uddin and Sonan Wangchuk finished first in their respective categories in the individual stableford competition with scores of 44 and 44 respectively and reached the Grand Finale in Antalya, Turkey, to be held in November. Taslima Shirin and Arshi Haidher  won the nearest-the-pin prizes.
"We would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup qualifier in Dhaka," said Murat Irdesel, General Manager of Turkish Airlines Bangladesh. "It was a brilliant day and winners Nazim and Sonan performed well. We look forward to seeing them in Antalya in November", he added.
The first qualifier was held in South Africa in March and tournaments were held across the globe, including Hong Kong, Great Britain, South Korea, Japan, China, Spain, the United States, Portugal, Italy, France, Greece, Argentina, Brazil and Turkey.
The overall winners of the Grand Finale will play in the 2015 Turkish Airlines Open pro-am, while all finalists are to enjoy a seven-night stay in an all-inclusive hotel.
Turkish Airlines, which was recently voted Europe's best airline for the fourth consecutive year (2014), launched the World Golf Cup in 2013, featuring 12 qualifying events.
It featured 12 qualifying events and was won by China's Han Liang. His prize for victory was partnering world number one and 14-time major champion Tiger Woods in the Turkish Airlines Open pro-am.
After that initial success, there was a rapid expansion to include 50 events worldwide last year.
