MADRID, Nov 16 (AFP): Married footballers are "more stable" than their single counterparts, according to Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster.
"When we prepare the transfer of a player, the first thing we ask him is whether he's married. These types of players are more stable," the Marca sports daily quoted Schuster as telling businessmen in the northern city of Zaragoza.
"We know that our players must have the best healthy way of life for this profession and they must realise the importance of Real Madrid, a club they represent 24 hours of the day," Schuster added.
"In this world, everything comes down to knowing one's self. They must therefore be professional and always have Real Madrid in their heads."
One Real player who might learn from Schuster's self-perceived words of wisdom is Brazilian striker Robinho, a 23-year-old bachelor.
Robinho had been criticised after his late night celebrations which followed Brazil's 5-0 thrashing of Ecuador last month and which appear to have delayed his return to Madrid from international duty.
According to a Brazilian newspaper, Robinho had asked a security guard at a nightclub during that drunken evening for "40 condoms".
"When he came back from Brazil, we didn't know what to do with Robinho. We had a Champions League match two days later so I decided to speak with him.
