Marshall, Mehrab Jr d'ble tons steal show on Day 2

Two unbeaten double centuries from Marshall Ayub (251) and Mehrab Hossain Jr (206) guided Walton Central Zone to post 528 for 4 in the 1st innings against Islami Bank East Zone on a wicket-less 2nd day of the 3rd round match of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) Wednesday, reports UNB.
Meanwhile, a fight back with a six-wicket haul from slow left-arm Saqlain Sajib saw BCB North Zone take command with a 211-run lead having seven wickets in hand against Prime Bank South Zone in the crucial 3rd round match at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
Walton Central Zone Vs Islami Bank East Zone
Resuming with overnight 231 for 4, Central Zone played 64 overs on the 2nd day when they added 299 runs with two down Marshall Ayub and number six Mehrab Hossain Jr contributing record 472 runs off 652 balls in the 5th wicket stand.
Ayub smashed 27 fours and three sixes in his 323-ball innings of 251 runs while Mehrab Jr hit 26 fours and two sixes for his 206 runs off 351 balls as Central Zone overall played 130 overs to score 528 for 4 at stumps on the 2nd day at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
BCB North Zone Vs Prime Bank South Zone:
After North Zone pacer Farhad Hossain claimed South Zone opener Imrul Kayes (2) in the first over of the 2nd day, another opener Soumya Sarker pairing with Enamul Haque Bijoy (30) added 71 runs in the 2nd wicket. Left handed Soumya top scored with 51 runs off 93 balls hitting eight fours.
But after Enamul Haque Bijoy was sent back by Saqlain Sajib, South Zone had no more partnership going and were eventually dismissed for 205 in the 1st innings with number eight Sohag Gazi hammering 45 runs off 24 balls with four fours and four sixes.
The 24-year-old Saqlain Sajib finished with the spell of 19.4-3-74-6 to complete his 13th five-wicket haul in the 46th first class match. Pacer Farhad Hossain and another slow-left-arm Sanjamul Islam took two wickets apiece for 32 and 45 runs respectively.
Coming to bat in the 2nd innings with an 86-run lead, North Zone scored 125 for 3 in 39.2 overs to extend the lead to 211 runs.
Openers Myshukur Rahman (31) and Farhad Hossain (10) and one down Jahurul Islam (6) were the three wickets that fell on the day as skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (51*) and Naeem Islam (22*) remained not out at stumps on Day 2.
