Mohammedan extend lead

Table topper Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited extended their lead as they beat Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 3-1 goals in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football held at Birshrestha Flight Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Friday, reports BSS.
In the proceeding, midfielder Raju Ahmed Zisan, Malian forward Souleymane Diabate and Nigerian forward Sunday Emmanuel scored one goal apiece for Mohammedan who led the first half by 1-0 goal.
Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng netted a lone goal for Rahmatganj.
Raju broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for Mohammedan in the 45+1st minute while captain Diabate doubled the lead scoring the second goal in the 64th minute of the match.
Sunday further widened the margin scoring the third goal for Mohammedan in the 69th minute while Samuel reduced the margin scoring a lone goal for Rahmatganj in the 86th minute of the match.
With the day's win, the black and white Motijheel outfit Mohammedan maintained their lead in the points table with 21 points from seven matches while the traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj following them with 15 points playing the same number of matches. Mohammedan will play their next match against Brothers Union Club on January 17 while Rahmatganj will face Abahani Limited Dhaka on January 18.
Earlier, Mohammedan beat Dhaka Wanderer Club 6-0 and edged past Bashundhara Kings and Abahani Limited Dhaka by an identical margin of 1-0 goal, defeated Bangladesh Police Football Club by 3-1 goals, beat Fortis Football Club by 1-0 goal and thrashed Chittagong Abahani Limited by 5-1 goals.
Meanwhile, Brothers Union Club moved up to third position in the points table as they beat Dhaka Wanderers Club by 4-1 goals in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football held at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.
In the proceeding, defender Rahmat Mia, forward Mahbubur Rahman Sufil, Nigerian born Bangladeshi forward Eleta Kingsley and Senegalese midfielder Cheikh Sene scored one goal each for Brothers who led the first half by 2-1 goals.
Midfielder Abu Sufian Yousuf Sifat netted a lone goal for Dhaka Wanderers Club.
Brothers Union took lead through a suicidal goal scored by Emon Khan of Dhaka Wanderers in the 17th minute while Mahbubur double the lead scoring the second goal in the 25th minute of the match.
Sifat pulled one back scoring lone goal for Wanderers in the 44th minute while after the breather Eleta scored the third goal for Brothers in the 88th minute and Sene sealed the victory scoring the fourth goal in the 90+2nd minute of the match.
With the day's win, the all-orange Gopibagh outfit raised their tally to 14 points from seven matches while Dhaka Wanderers Club remained at their previous collection of four points playing the same number of matches.
Brothers Union and Dhaka Wanderers Club will play their next matches against Mohammedan Sporting Club and Fakirerpool Young Men's Club respectively on January 17.
Brothers Union Club earlier beat Bangladesh Police Football Club 2-1, played 1-1 draw with Fortis Football Club, blanked Chittagong Abahani Limited 2-0, lost to Rahmatganj by 3-1 goals, played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Kings and blanked Fakirerpool by 3-0 goals.
While Dhaka Wanderers Club earlier suffered 6-0 defeat to Mohammedan in their league opening match, conceded 1-0 defeat to Abahani Limited Dhaka and suffered 4-0 defeat to Bangladesh Police Football Club in their third match of the league, played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Fortis Football Club, suffered 1-0 defeat to Dhaka Wanderers Club and suffered 6-1 defeat to Rahmatganj.
On the other hand, ten men Fortis Football Club forced Bangladesh Police Football Club to play a 1-1 goal draw in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football held at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
After the barren entire proceeding, forward Morshadul Islam broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for Police in the 90+nd minute but the lead lasted for one minute while Piash Ahmed Nova levelled the margin for Fortis in the 90+3rd minute of the match.
Monjurur Rahman of Fortis was shown direct red card by the referee for his unsporting behavior in the match.
With the day's outcome, Fortis secured seven points from seven matches while Police FC also collected seven points playing the same number of matches.
Bangladesh Police will play their next match against Chittagong Abahani Limited on January 17 while Fortis Football Club will meet holders Bashundhara Kings on January 18.
Meanwhile, holders Bashundhara Kings registered their fourth win in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football when they came from behind defeated ten men Fakirerpool Young Men's Club by 4-1 goals held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital.
In the day's match, Brazilian midfielder Jonathan Fernandes, forwards Foysal Ahmed Fahim, Rafiqul Islam and Rakib Hossain scored one goal each for Kings.
Fakirerpool took the lead through a suicidal goal scored by Kings Defender Tutul Hossain Badsha in the 3rd minute while after the breather Jonathan restored the parity for Kings in the 69th minute of the match.
Fahim put Kings ahead scoring the second goal in the 72nd minute while Rafiq further widened the margin scoring the third goal in the 75th minute of the match.
Rakib sealed the victory scoring the fourth goal for the defending champions in the 83rd minute of the match.
Titas Das of Fakirerpool was shown red card by the referee following double yellow cards.
Today's match: Dhaka Abahani vs Chittagong Abahani at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh at 02.45 pm.
