Mohammedan SC beat Farashganj SC 2-1

Title aspirant Dhaka Mohammedan SC kept their hope alive in the title race with a 2-1 win over Farashganj SC in the day's lone 2nd phase B. League match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Saturday, reports UNB.
With this win, Mohammedan SC secured 35 points from 17 matches to share the top slot with Abahani Limited who played one match less.
Currently, Abahani Limited and Mohammedan SC are the key contenders for the first professional football league crown as the 3rd placed Muktijoddha Sangsad KC lag far behind securing 33 points from 18 matches.
Farasjganj SC lies in 7th position securing 21 points from 18 matches. Earlier, in the first phase, Mohammedan SC outplayed Farashganj SC by 3-1 goals.
Nigerian recruit Emeka Christina and midfielder Mohammad Zahid Hossain scored for the popular 'black and white' Motijheel outfit while Arup Kumar Baidya netted the lone goal for Farashganj SC.
Arup put Farashganj SC ahead in the 9th minute with a spectacular left footer from around the penalty spot after receiving a ball when a shot from Rony Islam was fisted by opponent custodian Himel (1-0).
Emeka leveled the margin for Mohammedan SC in the 35th minute with a close range shot capitalizing on a header from his compatriot cum skipper Paul (1-1).
After the lemon break, Zahid netted the match-winning goal for Mohammedan SC in the 65th minute with a terrific angular shot from the right side of the D-box, fed by a Paul through from the top of the D-box (2-1).
