Mohanty, Veronika take joint lead in Advanced Int'l Chess

WIM Kiran Manisha Mohanty (India) and Minina Veronika (Russia) took joint lead in the Parachute Advanced International Chess Tournament with 4.5 points after the 6th round matches at the of Uni resort in Cox's Bazar Friday, reports UNB.
FM Abu Sufian Shakil (Biman) is in the second slot securing 4 points.
FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman Emon (Basir Memorial) and WFM Shamima Akter Liza (Narayanganj) share the 3rd position with 3.5 points each.
In the 6th round matches, Kiran drew with Shakil. Kiran played Sicilian defence with black pieces and the game, continued as Classical system of Dragon, ended as draw after 20 moves.
Liza beat FM Adul Malek (Biman) playing with black pieces in the Meran system of semi-Slav and won after 19 moves. Saif Uddin Lavlu (Titas) beat Dhyani Dave (India) while Emon drew with FM Peter Long (Malysia).
The 7th round matches start today (Saturday) at 9:00 am at the same venue.
