Mominul, Taijul advance in ICC's rankings after Ctg Test

Yasir enters top-10 as Rabada reclaims No. 1 spot

Bangladesh middle-order batsman Mominul Haque have raised 11 spots from 35th in the International Cricket Council's (ICC) latest Test batting rankings list updated on Wednesday, reports agencies.

The left-handed batsman achieved the feat after his stunning performance in the first Test against West Indies at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Mominul was adjudged man-of-the-match aggregating 132 runs in the match. He hammered 120 runs in the first innings. Bangladesh registered a 64-run victory against the visitors.

Of the other big performers in the three Tests, Bangladesh's Taijul Islam added to his 18 wickets in the two Tests against Zimbabwe with a seven-wicket haul, and rose six spots to No. 21.

Mushfiqur Rahim slipped a bit within the top 25.

Meanwhile, the other moves in the batting rankings, following match-defining hundreds from Jonny Bairstow in Colombo. Bairstow moved up six places to 16th. Azhar Ali, who made 81 in Dubai, moved up three spots to 12th, while Kusal Mendis is now ranked No. 20 after making 86 in Colombo.

In the bowling rankings Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah returned into the top-10 of the latest ICC Test Rankings after putting on a match-winning performance against New Zealand in recently-concluded Test in Dubai. Shah finished with extraordinary figures of 8-41 and 6-143 in the two respective innings to power his team to a series-levelling victory over the Kiwis.

Above him, James Anderson, who sat out the final Test after picking up just one wicket in the first two games, slipped from the perch to No.2, and Kagiso Rabada reclaimed the top spot, while Trent Boult went down two spots to No. 8, allowing Pat Cummins and Ravichandran Ashwin to move up to six and seven respectively.

There was a new No. 5 among all-rounders too. Ben Stokes, who put in good performances with ball and bat in Sri Lanka, swapped positions with Ashwin to slot in just behind Shakib Al Hasan, Ravindra Jadeja, Jason Holder and Vernon Philander.

Stokes scored 99 runs and took 4 for 55 at the SCC as England completed a 3-0 series win, has moved up one place in the allrounder rankings to No. 5.
