MSC beat Abahani

In a battle of titans, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club beat their arch-rival Abahani Limited by six wickets in a key 10th round match of the Metropolis Premier Cricket League at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur Friday, reports UNB.
With the day's well merited victory, traditional Mohammedan SC not only consolidated their claim for the league crown but also maintained the all-win run as the lone team in the league securing full 20 points from 10 matches.
The popular Dhanmondi outfit and defending champions Abahani Limited further went down in the race with the day's debacle and remained at 16 points, playing 10 matches.
Mohammedan won the toss in the day's vital match and sent Abahani to bat first to dismiss them cheaply for 191 in 47.1 overs.
Nadif Chowdhury contributed Abahani's highest 32 runs off 54 deliveries hitting four fours, Pakistani recruit Abdul Razzak scored 47-ball 28 runs featuring one four and two sixes and skipper Shakib Al Hasan made 25 runs off 33 balls.
Nabil Samad, Mahmudullah Riad and Saqlaine Sajib grabbed two wickets each conceding 29, 32 and 39 runs respectively while Pakistani recruit Rana Naveed, Emon Ahmed and Mohammad Ashraful took one wicket each.
In reply, Mohammedan SC, riding on an unbeaten 107 runs by Aftab Ahmed, easily reached their target making match-winner 192 runs for the loss of four wickets in 33.4 overs.
One down Aftab Ahmed furnished 100-ball 107 runs with 15 boundaries and two over boundaries.
Former national skipper Mohammad Ashraful hammered 26-ball 35 runs featuring five fours and one six while Mahmudullah Riad scored 26 off 42 balls, including three fours and one six, and opener Tamim Iqbal made 13 runs off 18 balls with two fours.
Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Rafique, Abdul Razzak and Shiblu took one wicket each giving away 23, 28, 37 and 51 runs respectively.
In another match of the day, Bangladesh Biman earned a comfortable 64-run victory over Khelaghar SKS at the BKSP ground in Savar.
Sent in to bat first, national flag carrier Bangladesh Biman scored 217 for all in 46 overs with Elias Sunny contributing 75 runs and Zahirul Islam 57 runs.
