Muktijoddha Sangsad beat Khulna Abahani 4-2

Muktijoddha Sangsad KC regained the top slot of the B League as they beat Khulna Abahani KC by 4-2 goals in the day's lone 2nd phase match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
The match was locked 1-1 in the first half.
With the day's win, the 'freedom fighters' team secured 33 points from 17 matches, a slim one point lead over giant Abahani Limited who are a strong contender for the title with 32 points from 15 matches.
Another title contender Mohammedan SC are in 3rd position with 29 points from 15 matches while Sheikh Russel KC also have 29 points, but played two matches more than Mohammedan SC.
Khulna Abahani KC remained at 12 points from 16 outings.
Earlier, in the first phase, mediocre Khulna Abahani held Muktijoddha Sangsad KC to a 1-1 draw.
In the day's match, skipper Saifur Rahman Moni, Maruf Ahmed, Moroccan recruit Brahim Bozziber and veteran forward Alfaz Ahmed scored for Muktijoddha Sangsad, while Mohammad Tajul Khan and GM Mamun netted for Khulna Abahani.
National striker Moni put Muktijoddha Sangsad ahead early in the 5th minute by a left-footer from just inside the D-box after getting a through from midfielder Arman Aziz (1-0).
Khulna Abahani leveled the score in the 25th minute as Tajul found the opponent net with a powerful shot from around the penalty capitalizing on a short free kick by Prashanto Dey (1-1).
After the breather, Maruf again put Muktijoddha Sangsad into the lead in the 62nd minute with an angular shot from top of the small box off a Brahim pass (2-1).
Midfielder Brahim, who was involved in a couple of good attacks, scored the 3rd goal for the winners in the 70th minute by displaying wonderful skill as he found the net after dribbling the ball from the midfield dodging past four opponent defenders and custodian Iran (3-1).
After conceding three goals, Khulna Abahani tried hard to come back in the match putting pressure on the opponent fort and managed to reduce the margin in the 82nd minute.
GM Mamun, stunned the few hundreds crowd at the big bowl as he sent the ball home after dodging past Muktijoddha defenders Ghansha, Deen Mohammed, Saif and Hasan Al Mamun (3-2).
Returning from injury, forward Alfaz sealed the fate of the match as he scored the 4th goal for Muktijoddha Sangsad in the 89th minute with a placing shot after fed by Brahim (4-2).
Khulna Abahani were down to 10 men in the 64th minute as Khalid Saifullah got the marching order for a harsh challenge on Muktijoddha midfielder Maruf.
