Muktijoddha Sangsad KC lost valuable points in the B League as they were held to goal-less draw by Farashganj SC in a 2nd phase match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
With the day's results, Muktijoddha Sangsad secured 27 points from 15 matches to share the top slot with Sheikh Russell KC, while Farashganj SC (15 matches) and Chittagong Mohammedan SC (14 matches), grabbed 18 points and bottom-ranked Rahmatganj MFS bagged nine points (15 matches).
At the BNS, Farashganj SC could consider them unlucky, as despite launching a series of attacks in the last 10 minutes of the match, they were unable to score.
After a decent start, mediocre Farashganj SC launched the first real attack in the 42nd minute when striker Puma shot wide from inside the D-box after getting a minus from Kutub.
Then just after the refreshment break, the 'freedom fighters' team got a chance, but forward Rokunuzzaman Khanchan's header off a right side Brahim cross narrowly sailed over the bar.
In the 80th minute, Nigerian striker Puma missed a good chance as his feeble shot off a Robin minus from the edge of the D-box couldn't find the net.
As the match was heading towards a goal-less draw, Farashganj SC got a free-kick just outside of the D-box as Mohammad Rony Islam's shot touched the hand of opponent defender Charles Ghansha. But left back Khaled Hossain's right-footed free-kick from vantage position went over the bar.
In the dying moments, Rony Islam made the last attack as his angular shot from the left side of the danger zone could not beat opponent custodian Titumir Chowdhury Titu, who cleared the ball stretching his left leg.
Yellow cards: Rony (Farashganj SC).
Muktijoddha Sangsad KC - Titu, Rajani, Hasan, Titu, Ghansha, Munna (Parvez), Arman Aziz, Bidyut, Brahim (Saif), Kanchan, Moni (Enamul),

In the day's other match at the Chittagong MA Aziz Stadium, hosts Chittagong Mohammedan SC played to a 1-1 draw with Rahmatganj MFS.
Skipper Asif Yusuf scored first for the port city club in the 66th minute while Nigerian forward Nche Francis levelled the margin for Rahmatganj MFS in the 76th minute.
