Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim raised his voice against the brutal killing of a 13-year- old boy in Sylhet.

The cricketer is seen holding a placard read "Say no to child abuse." The photo was posted on his official Facebook page on Monday afternoon.

In the post, Mushfiq said there can never be a worse crime than abusing an innocent child to death, according to portal news.

The child, Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajan, was tortured to death by a group of persons at Kumargaon on the outskirts of the Sylhet city Wednesday.

The brutal murder created a stir on social media and drew public hatred.

A 28-minute video, recorded on a mobile phone camera, shows the victim tied to a pole in front of a workshop in the still-closed Sultan Ali Market, beside the Dhaka-Sunamganj road. From the video, it seemed there were five to six men who took part in the barbaric torture.

Informed about the suspect, police went to the spot and took Muhit into custody and recovered Rajan's body from a microbus. The body was identified by Rajan's family at the police station on Wednesday night.
