Bangladesh pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman will be available for Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) clash against Punjab Kings on May 01 as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) extended his leave for one more day for the ongoing Indian Premier League. The left-armer has made a flying start to his CSK stint, picking 10 wickets in 5 matches, report agencies.
BCB earlier issued No-objection certificate (NOC) to Mustafizur till April 30 for the IPL, but the board has now allowed him to stay on for one more day to feature in one more game for his franchise.
"Mustafizur was supposed to return after April 30 but now we have allowed him to stay back for their match on May 1st. He is expected to arrive on May 2 for the T20 series against Zimbabwe (from May 3 to 12) and later we are not ready to release him as we want to rest him for a few days before the World Cup," a BCB official confirmed the development to the online sports portal on Monday.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play a three-match T20I series against USA from May 21-25 to get acclimatised with the condition of USA. Two of their four group stage games at the showpiece event are in that country. Bangladesh have played only twoT20Is in the USA before - against West Indies in Florida in 2018.
According to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Akram Khan, the former national skipper, the IPL will hone Mustafizur's skill more which eventually will benefit Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup.
Mustafizur is playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and, so far, he took 10 wickets in five matches which put him in the second spot of the wicket-taker list in the world's most influential T20 tournament.
"I think he will learn a lot from there in IPL because he is playing in a team like CSK, which was boasted with big names. There is player like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and there are a lot of big players. It's a life-time experience to share the dressing room with the players like their caliber," Akram said in the city on Monday.
