Delhi Capitals have roped in Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement player for Australia opener Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has opted out from the remainder of the season due to personal reasons. Mustafizur was previously with Delhi in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, reports Cricbuzz.
The wily Bangladesh quick has ample IPL experience. He won the title with Sunrisers Hyderabad in his first season in 2016, picking 16 wickets along the way and becoming the first and only overseas player to bag the emerging player award. He has 61 wickets in 57 IPL matches in all, representing Mumbai, Delhi, Rajasthan and Chennai over the years. He joins Delhi now for INR 60 million (6 crore).
Mustafizur will be the third left-arm pace option for the Delhi , who also have Mitchell Starc and T Natarajan. Delhi still remain in the hunt for a spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs when the season resumes on May 17.
They're currently fifth with 13 points from 11 fixtures, only a point behind fourth-placed Mumbai who have played one game more. Delhi's three remaining fixtures are against fellow top-four aspirants in Gujarat, Mumbai and Punjab.
