Nahid emphasises sports for students beside their study

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid Tuesday emphasised sports for the students beside their study as they would be a healthy and skilled citizen, reports BSS.
"Not only learning but also the sport is necessary for the students to face the challenge of the 21st century as skilled and worthy citizen of the country", the minister said.
The education minister said this as the chief guest while he inaugurated a five-day 43rd Summer National School and Madrasa Sports Competition-2014 on the Government Physical College premises in the city.
Prof Fahima Khatun, president of Bangladesh National School and Madrasa Sports Association and Director-General of Secondary and Higher Secondary Department was in the chair.
Education Secretary Dr Mohammad Sadique, Additional Secretary M Sohrab Hossain, and Swapan Kumar Sarker were present on the occasion.
The minister said that the present government was giving importance on the sports for the students alongside the study.
In this connection, summer and winter sports competitions have been organising every year at the schools and madrasas across the country since-2009, the minister added.
A total of 424 male and female students from 45 schools and madrasas in the country participated in the final round of the summer national sports competition this year.
