National Summer Athletics begins

State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder inaugurating the Walton Smart TV 12th National Summer Athletics competition- 2014 in the city Sunday.

Walton Smart TV 12th National Summer Athletics competition (boys' and girls') began Sunday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city, reports BSS.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder formally inaugurated the two-day meet as the chief guest. Athletics Federation General Secretary Ibrahim Chengis was also present on the occasion.
A total of 700 athletes from different universities, physical colleges, services teams, Bangladesh Railway, Bangladesh Portal Division and education boards from 64 districts across the country are competing in 36 events of the meet, sponsored by Walton. Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF) will award cash prize of Taka 5,000 to those athletes, who will create new national record in the competition.
