Bangladesh National Hockey team beat Malaysian Under-23 side by 5-1 goals in their 2nd practice match at Bukit Jalal National Stadium in Malaysia Tuesday, reports UNB.
Pushkar Khisha Mimo struck twice while Ashraful Islam, Khurshedur Rahman and Rumman Sarker scored goal one each for Bangladesh.
Earlier Monday, Bangladesh team conceded a 1-3 goals defeat to Malaysian Under-21 team in their first practice match soon after reaching Malaysia. All the four goals were scored in the last quarter of the match with
Rumman Sarker scoring the lone goal for Bangladesh. Bangladesh team will leave Malaysia for Singapore today (Wednesday) at 11:25 am and is likely to play another practice match in Singapore against Ukraine on January 15 in place of Oman, ahead of their main battle.
A 23-member Bangladesh National Hockey team left the capital Sunday night for Malaysia en-route to Singapore to play in the 2nd round matches of the World Hockey League to be held in Singapore on January 17-25.
Krishna Kumar Das, for the first time, is leading the Bangladesh national hockey team replacing long-serving skipper Mamunur Rahman Chayan while Sarwar Hossain accompanied him as vice-captain of the team, comprises 18 players and five officials.
Bangladesh put in strong Pool B of the meet alongwith Japan, Poland and Mexico while Pool A team comprises Malaysia, Oman, Ukraine and Singapore.
Bangladesh (ranked 30th) will start their campaign in the World Hockey League taking on top seed Japan (ranked 14) on the opening day (Jan 17), will play Mexico (ranked 35) on the following day (Jan 18) and will face Poland (ranked 18) on January 20.
