The Exim Bank 25th National Women's Handball Championship, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation, begins in the city today (Sunday) at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium, reports UNB.
Vice President of Bangladesh Olympic Association Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, who is also the President of Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation, will inaugurate the 18-team meet in the afternoon. Managing Director of the meet's sponsor Exim Bank Dr Mohammad Haider Ali Miah will also be present as the special guest.
Dhaka DSA will play Gopalganj DSA in the inaugural match soon after the opening ceremony.
A total of 18 teams, divided into six groups, will take part in the meet.
The participating teams are: Bangladesh Ansar & VDP, BJMC, Bangladesh Police, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Naogaon, Faridpur, Lalmonirhat, Jessore, Kishoreganj, Gopalganj, Kushtia, Narail, Satkhira, Meherpur, Nilphamari and Jamal DSAs.
