Navy face Police in opener tomorrow

Defending champions Bangladesh Navy will play Bangladesh Police in the opening match of the SIBL Victory Day Hockey Tournament at 03:00 pm tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium in the city on Tuesday, reports UNB.

Bangladesh Army will meet Bangladesh Air Force in the other opening day's fixture at 05:30 pm at the same venue.

BKSP will play Bangladesh Air Force on Wednesday at 03:00 pm while Bangladesh Army will encounter Bangladesh Police at 05:30 pm at the same venue.

Five teams--Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Police and BKSP-will initially compete in the meet initially on league basis matches from November 27 to December 3.

Later, two top teams of the league will play in the final on December 5 at 03:00 pm at the same venue.

Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) and Tournament's coordinator Mahbubul Ehsan Rana disclosed details of the tournament at a press conference at the Hockey Federation office Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Managing Director of the meet's sponsor Social Islami Bangladesh Limited (SIBL) Abu Naser Chowdhoury and BHF media partner ATN Bangla Meer Motahar Hossain also spoke on the occasion.

The champion team will get prize money of Tk 50,000, runners-up team Tk 30,000 while the highest scorer will receive prize money of Tk 10,000.
