Bangladesh selectors have left out Litton Das and included fast bowler Nahid Rana from the 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy, report agencies.
In the squad announced on Sunday, pacer Hasan Mahmud was also ignored in a squad that contained four seamers.
It will be 21-year-old Nahid Rana's first-ever ICC tournament while Litton paid for his long-running lacklustre form. His last international fifty came against India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He scored a highest of 6 runs in his last seven innings.
Bangladesh called up the 22-year-old top-order batsman Parvez Hossain Emon, who is still awaiting his ODI debut. He last played for Bangladesh in the T20I series against the West Indies
Allrounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is serving a bowling ban, was also left out.
Shakib, meanwhile, is ineligible to bowl in international cricket as his bowling was reported illegal by the ECB, a subsequent bowling test also revealed that Shakib's bowling is not legal, making him unavailable for Bangladesh as a bowler.
BCB also confirmed that Shakib can only play as a batter, but the selectors decided to keep him out.
Tamim recently confirmed his retirement from international cricket and said he is not making a comeback anymore for Bangladesh.
However, further changes to the squad can be made without showing cause until Feb 12.
Litton has recently been in poor form in all formats of the game. Although he played a fine knock of 73 off 43 balls for Dhaka Capitals in the Bangladesh Premier League on Friday, it was his first half-century in any format after 23 innings. His scores in the limited-overs series against the Caribbeans were embarrassing -- 2, 4 and 0 in the ODIs and 0, 3 and 14 in the T20Is.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy returned to the fold after pulling out of the West Indies series due to injury. Soumya Sarkar, who is still recovering from an injury, also secured a place in the squad.
Along with Litton and Mahmud, Afif Hossain and Shoriful Islam were also dropped from the squad that played against the West Indies.
The Tigers will also see the return of Mustafizur Rahman, who missed out the last series due to family reasons. In the series before that the left-arm seamer grabbed eight wickets in three ODIs against Afghanistan in Sharjah.
The tournament will begin on February 19 and Bangladesh will take on India in their opener the following Day in Dubai.
