ATHENS, Aug 23 (AP): Greek champions Olympiakos meets rivals Panathinaikos in the opening match of the season Sunday.
Olympiakos, which have won 10 of the last 11 titles, are gaining the reputation of being the dominant soccer club in Greece.
Last season, the team finished nine points ahead of AEK Athens and 17 in front of third-place Panathinaikos. The two Athens clubs are again expected to be Olympiakos' major title contenders.
After several seasons in the lower divisions, Levadiakos and Veria return to the top league, along with Asteras of the southern Greek city of Tripolis, which was promoted to the first division for the first time in its 29-year history. The Greek league opens Saturday and will end April 13.
