Oman retains all-win run beating Lanka

Oman maintained all-win run in the Islami Bank Men's Junior AHF Cup Qualifiers beating Sri Lanka by 3-2 goals in their 2nd match at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
Oman made a good start in the five-nation meet beating Thailand 7-0 in their first appearance Monday while Sri Lanka lost to Chinese Taipei 3-4 in the meet's opener Sunday.
In the day's match, Salmeen Al Nof Ali put Oman ahead in the 10th minute from a penalty corner, pushed by Imad al Hasan and stopped by Muhanna Al Hasani (1-0).
Salmeen again doubled the Oman margin in the 21st minute, capitalising on another penalty corner (2-0).
Sri Lankan captain Shahid Kuthupdeen reduced the margin with a close-range hit in the 24th minute (2-1).
Rashid Al Hosni further increased the Oman margin in the 32nd minute with a field goal to lead the first half 3-1.
Saminda De Costa scored the second goal for Sri Lanka in the 50th minute with a fierce angular hit (3-2).
Earlier, in the day's first match, Chinese Taipei registered their second win in three matches beating Thailand 4-2 at the same venue this (Wednesday) afternoon.
Chinese Taipei took lead from their very first penalty corner in the 10th minute as Chen Ming pushed the ball, stopped by Tsung Shih and skipper Lu Yu hit the board with a low push (1-0).
In the 23rd minute, Chun Kuo scored a spectacular goal scooping the ball over Thai goalie Jongjum Suriphong (2-0).
Three minutes later, Po Wu gave a back pass for Chung Shih to score from close distance (3-0).
Thai skipper Aphiwat Thanperm scored the first goal of his team in the 28th minute by cool hit from a combined attack (3-1).
Po Wu scored the fourth goal for Taipei in the 48th minute by his solo effort before completing the job with an upward push (4-1).
Boriak Harapan reduced the margin for Thailand in the 67th minute by solo effort (4-2).
