Prantik Roy emerges champ in school chess

Prantik Roy (Kolkata) emerged champion of the VI-X group 9th Standard Chartered School Chess Tournament, securing eight points after the last round matches at the Chess Federation Hall room here Friday, reports UNB.
Sayantan Das (Kolkata) become runner-up, Abdullah Al Saif (Quality School) and Sharif Hossain (Noakhali School) finished third and fourth position respectively.
In the KG-V group, Mainuddin Ahmed Asif (Hajrat Shah Ali School) emerged unbeaten champion with 8.5 points while Shayan Majumder (Kolkata) became runner-up.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held tomorrow (Sunday) at the National Sports Council conference room at 5:30 pm.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Salehuddin Ahmed will distribute prizes.
