The Walton Home Appliance Premier Division Chess League begins at the Media Centre of Bangladesh Olympic Association in the city today (Wednesday), reports BSS.
A total of 10 teams- defending champions Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, runners-up Bangladesh Navy, Leonine Chess Club, Titas Club, Gopalganj Chess Club, Pritam-Prism Chess Club, Narayanganj, Access Group Chess Club, Srejan Chess Club, Sultana Kamal Pathagar and Fire-Service & Civil Defence Sports Club are participating in the event.
The league will be held in round-robin league system. It's an international and highest team event in Bangladesh to be participated by grandmasters, international masters, International women master, FIDE masters and rated players from Georgia, Spain and host Bangladesh.
In this regards, a press conference was held Tuesday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium to give all the details of the meet.
National Sports Council Secretary Shivnath Roy, Walton additional director FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn), Walton additional director SM Rejoan Alam Shiplu, were also present on the occasion.
