Prize distribution ceremony of National Cricket League held

The prize distribution ceremony of the recently concluded Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 8th National Cricket League 2006-07 was held Tuesday at a city hotel, reports UNB.

President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) M Abdul Aziz was present at the function as chief guest and distributed the prizes among the champion and runner-up teams.

Four-day champions Dhaka Division received a trophy and a cheque of Tk 2,00,000 at the function. They also received a cheque of Tk 1,00,000 and a trophy as the one-day champions.

Rajshahi Division, which became runners up both in the four-day and one-day versions, received trophies and cheques of Tk 1,50,000 (Tk 1,00,000 for four-day and Tk 50,000 for one-day).

In the individual award category, Ariful Haque of Barisal Division received a cheque of Tk 10,000 and a crest for taking the highest number of wickets in the one-day version. Arif clinched eight wickets in four matches.

Dhiman Ghosh from Chittagong Division also received a cheque of Tk 10,000 and a crest for scoring the highest 324 runs in the one-day version.

In the four-dayers, Sabbir Khan of Chittagong Division got the highest wicket-taker award and received a cheque of Tk 20,000 and a crest. Sabbir took 53 wickets in 15 matches.

Chittagong Division batsman Gazi Salahuddin scored the highest 791 runs in the four-day matches to receive a cheque of Tk 20,000 and a crest.

Sylhet Division all-rounder Alok Kapali emerged as the best all-rounder of the tournament to receive Tk 20,000 and a crest. Kapali scored 294 runs and claimed seven wickets in one-day matches. In the four-day matches, he contributed 744 runs and grabbed 24 wickets.

Barisal Division batsman Rakibul Hasan, who became the first Bangladeshi to notch a triple century (313 runs) in first class cricket during the season, was adjudged the best emerging player. Rakib, scoring 499 runs in four-day versions and making 267 runs in one-day matches, was given a cheque of Tk 10,000 and a crest.

BCB vice-president and tournament committee chairman Shah Nurul Kabir Shaheen, general secretary Mahbub Anam, tournament committee vice-president Asaduzzaman Khosru, member secretary Kazi Mohiuddin Bulbul and BCB CEO Mahmudur Rahman were also present on the occasion.
