Prize giving ceremony of Standard Chartered Golf Tournament held

CHITTAGONG, Dec 11: Prize giving ceremony of 14th Standard Chartered Golf Tournament- 2009 held at the Bhatiary Golf and Country Club Friday.
Senior vice president of Bhatiary Golf and Country Club and GOC of the 24th Infantry Division and area commander, Chittagong Major General Mohammad Shamim Chowdhury nwc, psc, addressed the function as the chief guest while the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Jim McCabe addressed the function as the special guest.
General Chowdhury said that the bank started its operation in this country over one hundred years ago. It started business in the port city of Chittagong first. So the relationship between the Golf Club and the StanChart is deep-rooted.
The function was attended among others by Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retired) Shakhawat Hossain and chairman of the Ispahani Group of Industries Salman Ispahani.
As many as 109 golfers including six women golfers participated in the tournament that was inaugurated by vice president (admin & finance) of the Bhatiary Golf and Country Club and Commandant, Bangladesh Military Academy Brigadier General AMM Wajed Thakur ndc, psc.
The winner of the tournament was Sakeef Salam, runner up Lt Col (rtd) Ehsan Ullah, 2nd runner up Major Shafiqur Rahman, senior winner Brig Gen (rtd) Shakhawat Hossain, ladies winner Hafija Sultana Sathi, nine hole winner Lt Col Abdul Majid, nine hole runner up Major Farukh Ahmed Khan, junior winner Master Muhtadee Nabi Chowdhury, best front line Syed Sakhwatur Rahman, best back nine Monowarul Islam, longest drive Yassar Rahman and nearest to pin Major (rtd) Zahirul Ahsan.
