Seven other teams ensured quarter-final berths in the Meril Media Cup Football Tournament beating their respective opponents at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
They are BanglaVision, New Nation, New Age, Daily Star, ETV, Sangbad and Ajker Kagoj.
Earlier, UNB secured their place in the quarterfinals as the first team.
All the four quarterfinal matches will be held at the BNS today (Monday). Group A champions BanglaVision take on Group C champions New Age (9:00 am), Group E champions UNB face Group G champions Sangbad (10:00 am), Group F champions ETV encounter Group H champions Ajker Kagoj (10:00 am), and New Nation (Group B) face Group D champions Daily Star (9:00 am).
In the day's group matches, Ajker Kagoj crushed Independent by 6-0 goals, Banglavision outplayed Bhorer Kagoj by 3-0 goals and Sangbad beat Banglabazar by 2-0 goals.
Channel i defeated Jugantor, also by a 2-0 margin. Sujon and Tushar scored for the private satellite channel.
The Daily Star edged past CSB News by 2-1 goals.
The day's other two matches between BTV and New Age, and ETV and Karotoa ended in goal-less draw.
Former national player Badal Roy acted as match adjudicator on the day.
