An all-round performance by Farhad Hossain guided league leaders Rajshahi Division to a 6-wicket win over Sylhet Division in the 6th round one-day match of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium (NOS) Saturday, reports UNB.
In the day's other two matches, holders Dhaka Division crushed Khulna Division by eight wickets at the Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium (BSMRS) in Khulna while Barisal Division notched their second consecutive win edging past hosts Chittagong Division by 15 runs at the Bir Shreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium (BSRAS) in Chittagong.
After the 6th round, Rajshahi Division maintained their dominance in the one-day table securing 12 points, followed by Dhaka Division and Khulna Division, both having six points.
The other three divisional teams -- Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet -- collected four points each.
As Rajshahi Division chose to field first after winning the toss at the NOS, Farhad Hossain scalped five wickets for 16 runs in 3.3 overs to dismiss Sylhet Division for 206 in 49.3 overs.
All-rounder Alok Kapali scored team's highest 69 runs off 64 balls with six fours and two sixes while skipper Rajin Saleh made the second highest 31.
In reply, runners-up Rajshahi Division easily reached their target making 209 for 4 in 46.5 overs, riding on two fifties from opener Rabiul Karim and top order Nayeem Islam.
Rabiul contributed team's highest 54 runs off 90 balls with four fours while Farhad Hossain scored 41 runs off 75 balls with two fours.
At the BSMRS in Khulna, Khulna Division, winning the toss, batted first to be all out for just 125 runs in 37.2 overs in the face of some fiery spells by the Dhaka Division bowlers.
Stand-in-captain Abdur Razzak Raj contributed team's highest 39 runs of 56 balls with two fours while opener Nazmus Sadat 13, Imrul Kayes 10, Mostafizur Rahman 17 and Mohammad Salim 12 failed to deliver their best.
In reply, Dhaka Division cantered to their target of 126 runs in 33.2 overs for the loss of two wickets. Opener Shamsur Rahman scored not out 53 off 91 balls with three fours and a six. Skipper Al Shahriar Rokon also remained unbeaten on 35 to see the reigning champions through to an emphatic victory.
Sent in to bat first at the BSRAS in Chittagong, Barisal Division batted first to amass 289 for 5 in the stipulated 50 overs with the help of four half centuries from Kamrul Islam Emon, Arafat Salahuddin, Rukibul Hasan and Imran Ahmed.
Kamrul played an unbeaten knock of run-a-ball 78 with six fours and a six while Salahuddin hammered 68 runs off 46 balls with two fours and five sixes. Rokibul 56 and Imran 50 were the other two key contributors.
In chasing the target, Chittagong Division put up a good show but fell 15 runs short of the target as they managed 274 for all in 47.5 overs.
Middle order Nazimuddin top scored 84 runs off 68 balls with 11 fours and two sixes while skipper Ehsanul Haque Shezan contributed 57 runs off 72 balls that featured seven fours and Faisal Hossain Dickens made 45.
