Rajshahi take overall 155-run lead against Chittagong

Runners-up Rajshahi Division took overall 155-run lead against Chittagong Division on the 3rd day of the 3rd round four-day match of Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League scoring 78 for 3 in 29 overs in 2nd innings at the Chittagong Divisional Stadium Sunday, reports UNB.
After scoring 192 in the 1st innings, Rajshahi Division started their 2nd innings today as they bowled out Chittagong Division for only 115 runs in 55.1 overs in the 1st innings.
Number four Nayeem Islam and skipper Khaled Mashud Pilot were batting on 26 and 6 runs respectively when the bails were drawn for the day.
Opener Jahirul Islam scored 24 runs, Junaed Siddiqui Imroze made 14 and Farhad Hossain 12 for Rajshahi Division.
Pacer Saju Datta and Tareq Aziz Khan took one wicket each for Chittagong Division.
Earlier, after a play-less 2nd day due to wet outfield, Rajshahi Division were all out for 192 in their 1st innings adding just one run to their overnight score.
In reply, Chittagong Division collapsed in their 1st innings against fierce bowling by pacer Mohammad Shahzada and medium pacer Farhad Reza.
Tail-ender Tareq scored team highest 35 runs while Masumuddowla 21, Nafees Iqbal 2, Naziumuddin 10, Aftab Ahmed 0, skipper Ehsanul Huq Shezan 5 and Dhiman Ghosh 5 could not do justice to their name.
Shahzada captured four wickets for 24 runs in 17 overs while Farhad Reza picked up three wickets for 20 runs in 18.1 overs.
At the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, holders Dhaka Division took overall 8-run lead with six wickets in hand against Barisal Division on the 3rd day.
After being bundled out for 157 in the 1st innings, Dhaka Division showed some resistance in the 2nd innings as they made 155 for 4 in 51 overs at stumps on day three, after Barisal Division declared their 1st innings at 304 for 9 in 148 overs.
Number five Shamsur Rahman Shuvo remained at the crease scoring 35 runs off 78 balls with two fours, while national colour Mahmudullah Riyadh was the other unbeaten batsman on 24.
The top order Dhaka Division batsmen got some good starts, but they failed to continue their innings as skipper Mohammad Ashraful 28, opener Javed Omar 24, Mehrab Hossain Jr 19 and Al Shahriar Rokon 17 made mediocre scores.
Pacer Talha Jubair, Arafat Salahuddin and Sajidul Islam took one wicket apiece.
Earlier, in the morning, Barisal Division resumed their 1st innings with 215 for 4 in 111 overs with two overnight batsmen Nasiruddin Faruq 27 and Raisul Islam 14 at the crease.
Raisul got himself out at 35 off 127 balls with one four while Faruq 34, Arafat Salahuddin 13, Shaheen Hossain 13 and Talha Jubair not out 29 helped their team to cross the 300-mark.
Spinner Mosharraf Hossain Rubel scalped three wickets for 40 runs in 37 overs while Mohammad Sharif and Ashraful took two wickets each.
At the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium, two useful fifties from skipper Rajin Saleh and Mushfiqur Rahim enabled Sylhet Division to score 174 for 3 in 60.2 overs in the 1st innings on day three after dismissing Khulna Division for 274 in the 1st innings.
Resuming the day with overnight 1st innings score of 6 for none in 3 overs, both the Sylhet Division openers Golam Rahman 7 and Golam Mabud 3 went early without reaching the double figure.
Then Rajin showed some resistance contributing 54 runs off 109 balls with 10 boundaries while wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim was batting on 54 facing 131 balls that featured five fours and a six.
All-rounder Alok Kapali was the other unbeaten batsman with 39 runs off 70 balls with five fours.
Pace spearhead Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took two wickets for 44 runs in 18 overs while pacer Ziaur Rahman took the other wicket.
