Rangpur beat Rajshahi by an innings

Rangpur Division earned an innings and one -run victory over Rajshahi Division in the 5th round match of the Walton 16th National Cricket League that concluded on the 4th and last day on the BKSP ground-3 in Savar Thursday, reports UNB.

Four more centuries were made on the final day of the 5th round at separate venues Thursday. Ziaur Rahman of Khulna hit ton against Dhaka Division, Abdul Majid of Dhaka scored century against Khulna while Tasamul Haque and Irfan Sukkar of Chittagong hit tons against Barisal Division.

Replying to Rangpur Division's huge first innings total of 527 for 6 declared, Rajshahi Division, having 263 runs in the first innings, Thursday resumed the 2nd innings with overnight score 85 for 1 and were all out again at 263 runs in 75.3 overs to concede a humiliating innings defeat.

Opening batsman Mizanur Rahman, who resumed batting with 32 runs, finally scored 61 runs with the help of 10 boundaries while batsman Junaid Siddique (19) scored 23 runs with two fours.

Lower order batsman Muktar Ali, who hammered 85 runs in the first innings, contributed an unconquered 70-run off 88 balls with six fours and four sixes while Farhad Hossain added another 25 runs.

Sajedul Islam grabbed four wickets for 66 runs, Tanveer Haider claimed three wickets for 28 runs while Subashish Roy bagged two for 50 runs.

Opener Litton Das, who hammered an entertaining 173 runs and guided Rangpur Division to score a massive 527 for 6 declared in the first innings, was adjudged man of the match.

In another match, Dhaka Metropolis team defeated Sylhet Division by a comfortable 135 runs in the 4th and final day of the 5th round match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

Sylhet Division, with first innings poor total of 171 runs, resumed the 2nd innings Thursday morning with overnight score 33 for 1 in 19 overs and were all out for 222 runs in 101.2 overs to suffer defeat.

Night watch batsman Ruman Ahmed (9) scored 39 runs, including seven fours, lower order Sadiqur Rahman contributed not out 38 featuring five fours and a six, another night watch batsman Imtiaz Hossain (12) made 35 runs with six fours, skipper Alok Kapali added 30 runs with help of three fours.

Sharifullah grabbed three wickets for 44 runs, Marshal Ayub, Elias Sunny and Mohammad Shahid claimed two wickets each conceding 19,51 and 64 runs respectively.

Earlier, Dhaka Metropolis team scored 264 runs for all in the first innings and made another 264 runs for 8 declared in the 2nd innings.

Shamsur Rahman of Dhaka Metropolis team scored 103 in the 2nd innings to be adjudged man of the match.

In the day's other match, Dhaka Division played to a draw against Khulna Division at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.

Khulna Division resumed the first innings with overnight total 437 runs for 6 and finally declared the innings at 600 for 9 in 150.3 overs.

Night-watch batsman Ziaur Rahman (15) made a century scoring 110 runs with eleven fours and five sixes while another night watch batsman Mehedy Hasan (16) scored 61 runs, including nine fours.

Mohammad Sharif picked up three wickets for 176 runs while Shahadat Hossain and Mosharraf Hossain took two wickets each giving away 87 and 126 runs respectively.

In reply, Dhaka Division opened the 2nd innings and scored 216 for 2 in 45 overs at stumps on the final day, Thursday with opener Abdul Majid hitting a century with 104 runs and Rony Talukder 78 runs.

In the day's other match, Barisal Division settled for a draw against Chittagong Division at BKSP ground in Savar.

Chittagong Divisision resumed the 2nd innings with overnight total 53 for 2 and scored 324 for 3 in 97 overs at stumps on the 4th and final day, Thursday featuring two centuries by Tasamul Haque and Irfan Sukkar.

Night watch batsman Tasamul Haque (3) contributed unbeaten 120 runs featruning 14 fours and one six while Irfan Sukkar added another useful not out 104 runs with 20 boundaries.
