Rangpur Division moved to the top of the points table in the 27th National Cricket League (NCL) after securing a five-wicket win over Rajshahi Division in their fifth-round match at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium on Tuesday, reports BSS.
Pacer Mukidul Islam Mugdho, who took five wickets in the first innings, added 3-29 in the second to lead a disciplined bowling effort.
He was supported by Mehedi Hasan with 4-26 and Robiul Haque with 3-46 as Rajshahi were bundled out for 119 in their second innings, setting Rangpur a modest 130-run target.
Rangpur comfortably reached 132-5 in 30.3 overs to seal their second win of the campaign. Nasir Hossain anchored the chase with an unbeaten 52, while skipper Tanbir Hyder remained not out on 28.
Earlier, Mugdho's 5-42 helped Rangpur dismiss Rajshahi for 268 in the first innings, but the visitors fell 10 runs short after being bowled out for 258.
Rajshahi's Abdur Rahim tried to turn the tide with 6-72, though his effort ultimately proved insufficient.
Rangpur have now won two matches and drawn three to rise to the top of the standings.
In another match, the match between Mymensingh and Khulna ended in a draw after Al Amin Hossain hit a century in the fifth round game of the NCL at Khulna Divisional Stadium on Tuesday.
Resuming the Day 4, the final day of the game at 387-7, Mymensingh declared the innings at 459-8 after overnight batter Al Amin completed his century.He remained unbeaten on 102 off 191 with 10 fours and one six. Arif Ahmed, the another overnight batter scored 81 before being out.
Khulna then reached 140-4, with Soumya Sarkar making 44 and Afif Hossain not out on 38.
Mymensingh's fourth draw in fifth match lifted them at fourth position in the point table.
Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam claimed a seven-wicket haul as Barishal registered second victory in the NCL, securing a six-wicket victory over Dhaka Division in their fifth round match at Cox's Bazar Cricket Stadium Tuesday.
Tanvir ripped through Dhaka's batting line up with 7-64, wrapping them up for just 169 in the second innings on Day 4, after they resumed at 124-5.
His brilliant bowling gave Dhaka only a 102-run target for a victory and they overhauled the target, reaching 107-4 in 34.3 overs.
Opener Iftekhar Hossain Ifti, who made 78 in the first innings, led the charge with the willow with 57 not out. His opening partner Adil Bin Siddik made 30.
The openers added 41 runs after which Barishal tasted a hiccup, losing four wickets for 39 runs with Fazle Mahmud and Abdulah bagging duck.
Ifti, however, stayed calm under pressure to lead the side to the victory.
Earlier, Dhaka posted 273 in the first innings, thanks to Marshall Ayub's 120, a knock which took him to 10,000 first class runs as the fourth Bangladeshi batter.
Barishal replied with 341 all out, taking a 68-run lead that became instrumental in their victory finally.
In another match, pacer Abu Jayed Rahi ended a match haul of nine wickets as Sylhet crushed Chattogram by 147 runs in their fifth game of the NCL at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura.
Put into bat first, Sylhet posted 255 before being all out in the first innings, a score that still earned them a 145-run lead when Abu Jayed sparkled with the bowling.
The pacer claimed 5-37 to wrap up Chattogram for only 110 runs, a total which eventually decided the course of the game.

his 78 with 61 in the second innings as Sylhet piled up 205, setting
Chattogram 353 for a victory.
