Two-time Wimbledon runner-up Andy Roddick saw off Thailand's Danai Udomchoke 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-3) to make the third round of this year's tournament Wednesday, reports BBC.
Third seed Roddick had to fend off break points in both the first two sets against the world number 114.
Udomchoke finally broke through in the third set to level at 4-4 but Roddick claimed the subsequent tie-break.
The 24-year-old will meet either Fernando Verdasco of Spain or Italian Andreas Seppi in the third round.
Meantime, Serena Williams was pushed hard by Alicia Molik but won 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 to reach the third round of Wimbledon.
The seventh seed and two-time champion was broken twice by the Aussie in the first set but had two breaks of her own and clinched it on a tie-break.
The pair traded breaks early in the second, but the American began to dominate and broke Molik again for 4-2.
Molik saved match point and held for 5-3, then made Williams save two break points, but she was not to be denied.
French Open finalist Ana Ivanovic took her place in round two with a 6-0 7-5 (7-3) win over Hungary's Melinda Czink.
The sixth seed made a strong start and wrapped up the first set in just 18 minutes before Czink woke up and broke back at the start of the second.
After a 40-minute rain delay, the Serb sixth seed broke back. Czink saved a match point before losing a tie-break.
