Russell, MSC play out draw in BPL

Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) forced defending champion Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra to play a one-all draw in the 6th round first match of Bangladesh Premier League  (BPL) at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Sunday, reports UNB.

After the day's match, Sheikh Russell secured 10 points from 6 matches while Mohammedan earned 7 points from the same number of matches.

Sheikh Russell took the lead in the 29th minute through their Jamaican midfielder Ricardo Cousins when he snatched the ball from Mohammedan defender Mintu Sheikh and kept his cool to go past Mohammedan goalie Titumir Chowdhury before placing the ball into the far post (1-0).

Seven minutes after the lemon break, Emily restored the parity for Mohammedan when forward Wahed curved a low cross from the right flank and Emily headed home (2-0).

Mohammedan came close to a strike before the break but could not avail the opportunity as Zahid Hasan Emily was erratic.
