The South Africa Cricket Team arrived in the city Tuesday afternoon to play a full-fledged series against Bangladesh in Dhaka and Chittagong, reports UNB.
A flight of Emirates Airways carrying the Proteas landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 5:28 pm, said BCB sources.
During the five-week long tour to Bangladesh, the Proteas team will play two T20Is, three One Day International (ODIs) and two Test matches against the Bengal Tigers.
South Africa have a tremendous record against Bangladesh in all the three formats of cricket.
Bangladesh lost all the eight Test matches against South Africa, including seven by innings defeat. Out of 14 ODI tussles between them, Bangladesh won only one match against South Africa in 2007 ICC World Cup. In T20I, Bangladesh lost both matches.
The South Africa will start their Bangladesh campaign with T20 match on July 5 at 1:00 pm at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur after a warm-up T20 on July 3 at 1:00 pm in Fatullah.
The Proteas will play their 2nd T20 match on July 7 at 1pm and the 1st and 2nd ODI matches at 12 noon on July 10 and 12 respectively, all at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
The South Africa team will travel to the port city of Chittagong on July 13 and play the 3rd ODI match on July 15 also at 12 noon at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
After the Eid break on July 18-19, the tourists will play first Test in Chittagong on July 21-25, beginning at 9:30 am at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
The Proteas team will move to capital Dhaka on July 26 to play the 2nd and final Test against Bangladesh on July 30 to August 3 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, before departing Bangladesh on August 4.
