Touring South Africa, riding on a century by one down Hashim Amla, scored 329 for 9 in 88 overs against BCB Eleven on the first day of the three-day warm-up match at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah Sunday, reports UNB.
After the dismissal of Proteas captain Graeme Smith and another opener JP Duminy for 35 runs in 10.1 overs, one down Amla pairing with Jacques Kallis carried the team total to a respectable position, contributing 124 runs in the third wicket stand.
The 23-year-old right-handed batsman Amla hammered 103 runs off 120 balls with 18 boundaries before being caught by Junaed Siddiqui off spin attack by Enamul Haque Jr.
Veteran Kallis made patient 36 runs off 88 balls with six fours and a six while number six AB De Villiers added useful 39 runs off 87 balls with six fours and a six.
Left-arm pacer Syed Rasel made the first breakthrough dismissing South African captain Graeme Smith for just two runs in 2.4 overs and created panic in the Proteas tent claiming the wicket of another opener Paul Duminy for 17 with scoreboard showing 35 for 2 in 10.1 overs.
