Touring Bangladesh A team conceded a humiliating 117-run defeat against Sagicor High Performance Centre (SHPC) of West Indies in the first one-day match at Bridgetown on Sunday, reports UNB.
Replying to SHPC's mammoth 327 runs for 9 featuring a century by Andre Russell (132), the 2nd string Bangladesh team were all out for 210 in 41.2 overs.
Among the Bangladeshi batsmen, top order Shuvagata Hom made a half century scoring run-a-ball 51 with five fours and a six, opener Imrul Kayes scored 38 runs off 30 balls with six fours and a six while one down Marshall Ayub added 30 runs off 31 balls with three fours and a six.
Besides, Nurul Hasan (20), Sabbir Rahman (17) and skipper Naeem Islam (12) were the other notable scorers for Bangladesh.
Ashley Nurse's off break broke the Bangladesh A middle-order as he picked up three wickets for 45 runs. Carlos Brathwaite also grabbed three wickets for 23 runs while Nikita Miller took two for 41 runs.
Earlier, put into bat first, hosts Sagicor HPC fell to 49 for 4 in the 15th over but Leon Johnson and Chadwick Walton smoothened the innings with a 91-run fifth wicket stand. The pair got fifties but they departed by the 37th over leaving Sagicor on 163 for 6.
Sagicor HPC recovered very well after the early batting collapse and Andre Russell's blazing unbeaten 132 ensured a big total for the home side.
Russell hammered 132 runs off just 56 balls with 13 sixes and seven fours. He got his first fifty off 35 balls and the second off only 12 balls. Russell added 95 runs for the eighth wicket with Ashley Nurse, whose contribution was 14, as Sagicor posted 327 for 9.
Shafiul Islam claimed three wickets for 37 runs while Muktar Ali and Farhad Reza took two wickets each for 53 and 78 runs respectively.
The second one-dayer between the two teams will be held on Tuesday in Lucas Street, Barbados.

The league committee arranged the title deciding play-off match as both Dhaka Railway SC and Bachelors SC finished joint top in the league table securing 26 points each.
