School H’ball advances to semifinal

The Polar Ice Cream 22nd School Handball Tournament (Boys) advanced to the semifinal stages at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city Saturday, reports UNB.
In the boys' group semifinals today (Sunday), Saint Gregory's High School will face Dhaka Residential School at 3:00 pm while Dhanmondi Tutorials will meet Play Pen School at 4:00 pm at the same venue.
In the day's first quarterfinal, Saint Gregory's High School eliminated Scholastica School by 26-9 goal after dominating the first half 16-5. Sujon and Ekramul scored eleven goals each for the winners while Intisar netted five goals for the losers.
Dhanmondi Tutorial overcame Sunnydale School by 15-14 goal in a keenly contested day's other quarterfinal. The match was locked in 9-9 goal during the first half. Minar contributed five and Ali netted three for the winners while Wasif scored eight and Raiyan netted four goals for the losers.
In the day's another quarterfinal, Play Pen School outplayed Shaheed Ramizuddin Cantonment School by 12-5 goal after leading the first half 6-3. Kazi Faiyas netted six and Akif Azam four for the winners while Robiul netted two goals for the losers.
In the day's last quarterfinal, Dhaka Residential School defeated BISC by 12-4 goal after dominating the first session 7-3. Abdullah made seven goals for the winners while Rifat netted two for the losers.
Meanwhile, the girls group matches of the meet advanced to the quarterfinal stages Saturday at the same venue.
In the girls' quarterfinals today (Sunday), Sunnydale will play Bangla Bazar Govt High at 9:00 am, Dhanmondi Tutorial will encounter Shaheed Nabi High School at 10:00 am, Scholastica School will meet Green Heralds International School at 11:00 am while Shaheed Anwar Girls School and College will face Viqarunnisa Noon School and College at 12 noon.
In the day's girls group matches, Scholastica crushed Chittagong Grammar School 17-0; Green Heralds beat Agrani School & College 3-2.
Shaheed Anwar outplayed South Breeze School 7-1 while Viqarunnisa Noon trounced Motijheel Colony High by 8-1 goals.
