Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has returned to Indian Premier League (IPL) auction and enlisted with the high base price. He is one of 11 players to be listed at the highest base price of INR 2 crore (approx. US $274,000), report agencies.

Other cricketers in this category are Harbhajan Singh, Glenn Maxwell, Kedar Jadhav, Steven Smith, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy, Mark Wood and Colin Ingram.

About 814 are from India and 283 foreign cricketers have registered for the auction. Five of the Bangladeshi cricketers have submitted their names. However, they did not disclose the names of the five cricketers except Shakib.

IPL authorities have released the list of cricketers registered for the 2021 IPL on Friday. The auction for this year's edition of IPL will be held on February 18. A total of 1,097 cricketers have registered for the auction.

According to the IPL authorities on Friday, there are 207 uncapped and 863 capped have registered for this year.

Of the uncapped cricketers, 743 are Indians. In addition, 68 foreign uncapped cricketers have submitted their names for the IPL auction.

The West Indies have registered the most about 56 cricketers. In addition, 42 Australian cricketers have submitted their names.

There will be 38 cricketers from South Africa, 31 from Sri Lanka, 30 from Afghanistan, 29 from New Zealand, 21 from England, nine from the United Arab Emirates, eight from Nepal and seven from Scotland.

Two cricketers from Ireland, United States and Zimbabwe have also registered for the IPL auction. In addition, there is one cricketer from the Netherlands.

Australia pace bowler Mitchell Starc has not registered for the IPL players' auction.

Starc, who has played just two seasons of the T20 tournament in 2014 and 2015, had a lacklustre summer against India in Test series picking 11 wickets across four Tests at an average of 40.72. He was the only bowler in Australia camp to leak over three runs an over in the series against India. There was speculation that he would command a big price at this year's auction.

But according to a report in ESPNCricinfo.com, the left-arm pace bowler has opted out. He may have done it to manage workload and prepare for the T20 World Cup in India and Ashes at home this year.

Joe Root, who scored a century in his 100th Test on the first day of the series against India, did not register for the second IPL in a row, and among England players who previously featured in the competition, Harry Gurney and Tom Banton also did not register.

Former India pace bowler S Sreesanth, who also returned to cricket after serving out a ban, too has registered for the auction at a base price of Rs 7.5 million (75 lakh).

England batsman Tom Banton, who was with Kolkata Knight Riders last year, but did not get to play much has not registered as he wants to focus on playing the County championship.

Sachin Tendulkar's son, Arjun Tendulkar has registered for the Indian Premier League (IPL) players' auction. He has a base price of Rs two million (20 lakh).

The left-arm seamer made his debut for Mumbai senior team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament last month and picked two wickets in two matches.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s were the 21-year-old's first games in competitive cricket after July-August 2019 when he represented the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Young Cricketers.

He also represented India under-19 in two four-day matches in Sri Lanka in June, 2018.

Arjun has made his way through Mumbai's age-group cricket. He was picked for the Mumbai u-19 team and took 19 wickets in five matches in the 2017-18 Cooch Behar Trophy. The performance included two five-wicket hauls.
