Star-studded newcomers Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club notched their 2nd win in the GrameenPhone Bangladesh League beating Farashganj SC by 2-0 goals in the lone match at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in city's Kamalapur Tuesday, reports UNB.
With this result, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club secured eight points while Farashganj SC remained at six points, both playing five matches.
In the day's match, Shakil Ahmed scored one goal for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club while the other came as a suicidal goal, both in the 2nd half.
The giant killer Farashganj SC, which upset holders Abahani Limited 1-0, should have taken at least a 2-0 lead in the first half, but luck seemed to have deserted them Tuesday as they missed two real scoring chances, despite clearly dominating the first half.
Farashganj missed the first scoring chance in the 45th minute as Nigerian striker Kalu Johnson's header from inside the danger zone off a Ronny pass returned to play after hitting the crossbar.
Farashganj SC were again denied another goal in the injury time of the first half as Nigerian forward Amadi Moses' free kick from vantage position returned to play after hitting the crosspiece.
After the lemon break, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club went ahead in the 48th minute, courtesy a suicidal goal. The ball touched Farashganj net when their defender Shyamol tried to clear the ball from danger zone off a cross taken by Sheikh Jamal's striker Enamul Haque (1-0).
As Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club soon got their rhythm back, Shakil doubled the team margin with a goal in the 57th minute.
