Sheikh Jamal DC clinch title beating Dhaka Abahani 1-0

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club smartly clinched the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League title beating Dhaka Abahani Limited by 1-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Haitian forward Wedson Anselme scored the match-winning goal for the Dhanmondi outfit Sheikh Jamal in the 71st minute by a powerful shot outside from the danger zone, capitalizing on a pass from Nigerian forward Emeka Darlington (1-0).
With the day's feat, Wedson Anselme also dominated the scorer list making 22 goals while his team-mate Emeka Darlington followed him with 21 goals.
Sheikh Jamal DC, which needed just one point to ensure their second title of the professional football league, snatched full three points from their giant rival Abahani Limited to celebrate the prestigious league crown with two matches in hand securing 58 points from 25 matches.
Dhaka Abahani Limited were in distant 2nd with their previous credit of 46 points from 25 encounters while Dhaka Mohammedan SC were in the 3rd slot with 41 points.
In the day's match, Sheikh Jamal DC made a good chance to take the lead in the 22nd minute but their midfielder cum national captain Mamunul Islam saw his left footer flying over the crosspiece.
Abahani's Ghanaian forward Osei Morrison squandered a chance in the 32nd minute. Midfielder Awudu Ibrahim put a lob to Morrison who received the ball and took a shot to goal but Jamal goalie Mazharul Islam saved his catle by punching the ball away.
Haitian Wedson Anselme earlier missed a chance having one-to-one situation as Abahani goalie Shahedul Alam Sohel saved a sure goal by diving to the right.
Abahani came close to level margin in the last later part on the match but their Portuguese forward Soares sent the ball wide from a vintage position.
