With two goals in the dying moments, Sheikh Russell KC beat Muktijoddha Sangsad KC 3-0 in the day's lone 2nd phase match of the B League at the Bangabandhu National Sta-dium (BNS) in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
With the day's creditable win, the out of title race Russell KC secured 32 points from 18 matches while Muktijoddha Sangsad KC still remained in the 3rd slot with 33 points from 19 matches.
Abahani Limited is dominating the league table with 38 points from 17 matches, followed by arch rivals Dhaka Mohammedan SC who have 35 points, also from 17 outings.
Earlier, in the first phase, Sheikh Russell KC underlined their supremacy over Muktijoddha Sangsad KC with a 2-1 win.
In the day's match, Moroccan forward Touati Youness and substitutes Masud Parvez Kaiser and Lutfar Rahman Nayan scored for Sheikh Russell KC.
After a barren first half, Youness broke the deadlock for the winners in the 74th minute with a spectacular right-footed volley from top left of the D-box after getting a back pass from striker Bulbul (1-0).
Substitute Kaiser, who replaced Rashed Ahmed Pappu, netted the 2nd goal in the 90th minute with a gentle push to an open net when opponent custodian Titu came out of his post but failed to grab a through from Saad Abdel Fetah. Onrushing Kaiser, who was closer to Titu, did the rest to make the score line 2-0.
Nayan, who replaced right winger Tanveer, hit the last nail in the Muktijoddha coffin in injury time of the match with a placing shot from inside the D-box utilizing a pass from Bulbul (3-0).
Sheikh Russell KC, which dominated throughout the match by enjoying most of the ball possessions, also had couple of scoring chances.
