Shimmi emerges champion in rating chess

Shamiha Sharmin Shimmi emerged unbeaten champion in the first Women Rapid Rating Chess Tournament beating WIM Rani Hamid in the last round Saturday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room in the city, reports BSS.

Shimmi earned 4.5 points to clinch the title.

Four players earned 4 points each. Their ties were broken by tie-breaking system.

Positions of the four players are runner-up WIM Rani Hamid, 3rd-Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly, 4th-Kishwara Shajrin Evana and 5th-WFM Zakia Sultana. Vice President of Bangladesh Chess Federation Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim was present as the chief guest on the closing day of the meet and distributed the prizes.

A total of 25 players, including 22 rated players, took part in the event.
