Bangladesh made a promising start in the chase but could not sustain the momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Despite a fighting knock and a career-best effort from Shorna Akter, the hosts eventually fell short, report agencies.

In the opening match of the women's T20I series in Sylhet, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 25 runs. The visitors posted 161 runs, and Bangladesh were restricted to 136 in reply.

It was also a landmark game for Nahida Akter, who featured in her 100th T20 International match. She became only the second Bangladeshi women's cricketer to reach this milestone, though the team could not

celebrate her achievement with a victory.

For Sri Lanka, Harshitha Samarawickrama

starred with a brilliant 61 off 35 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes.
