South Zone trail by 228 runs against East Zone in BCL

Despite two brilliant centuries by Tushar Imran and Mosaddek Hossain, Prime Bank South Zone were still trailing by 228 runs scoring 318 runs for 5 in 89 overs in the first innings against Islami Bank East Zone after the 3rd day of the four-day 6th Bangladesh Cricket League First Class Cricket at BKSP ground-4 in Savar on Thursday, reports UNB.
Replying to East Zone's mammoth first innings total of 546 runs, featuring a double century by Mominul Haque (258) and a century by Zakir Hassan (119) despite a six-wicket haul by veteran spinner Abdur Razzak, Prime Bank South Zone resumed the first innings in the morning with their overnight total of 128 for 3 and finally added only 190 runs in the entire 3rd day (Thursday).
After the dismissal of top three wickets cheaply for 59 runs, former national cricketer Tushar Imran pairing with Mosaddek Hossain contributed 218 runs in the 4th wicket partnership to carry the team total to 277 from 59.
Number five batsman Mosaddek Hossain, who was batting on 42 runs, hammered a ton scoring 110 runs off 226 balls featuring 11 fours and four sixes while number four batsman Tushar Imran (batting on 22) also completed a century making 163-ball 105 runs with the help of 18 boundaries.
Al Amin and Quazi Nurul Hasan were in batting with 17 and 13 runs respectively.
National coloured all-rounder Shohag Gazi picked up three wickets for 65 runs while Nazmul Apu and veteran Alok Kapali took one wicket each.
In the day's another league match, Walton Central Zone were trailing 35 runs in the 2nd innings against BCB North Zone's first innings total after the 3rd day of the four-day first class affairs at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Replying to Walton Central Zone's first innings total of 188 runs, BCB North Zone resumed the first innings with their overnight score 433 for 7 and declared the innings at 457 for 9 with overnight batsman Jahurul Islam (152) contributing 158 runs off 255 balls, hitting 14 fours and five sixes.
Besides, number seven batsman Dhiman Ghosh contributed 112-ball 93 runs hitting 12 boundaries while Ariful Haque and Farhad Reza added another 37 and 30 runs respectively
National pacer Taskin Ahmed, who took three wickets for 116 runs on the 2nd day, grabbed four wickets for 122 runs, Shovagoto Hom claimed three wickets for 136 runs while Mosharraf Hossain took two for 88 runs.
In reply, Walton Central Zone opened the 2nd innings and scored 234 for 7 in 77 overs when bails were drawn for the 3rd day.
Two down batsman Rakibul Hasan Hammered a century making 105 runs off 152 deliveries with 17 boundaries while Tanvir Hyder and Irfan Sukkur scored 238 and 24 runs respectively.
Ariful Haque, Subashis Roy and Suhrawardy Shuvo took two wickets each conceding 31, 40 and 45 runs respectively.
